2-Day Mount Toubkal Trek from Marrakech

Hiking Duration: 5–6 hours | Difficulty: Moderate

• Morning Departure:
  Pick up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech early in the morning. Drive south toward the Atlas Mountains, passing the scenic Haouz Plain and charming Berber villages along the way. Enjoy panoramic views of the valleys and peaks of the Toubkal Massif.

• Arrival in Imlil:
  Meet your licensed, bilingual mountain guides and prepare for the trek. Your luggage will be transported by mule, ensuring a comfortable and hassle-free hike.

• Trekking to Toubkal Refuge:
  Begin your ascent toward Toubkal Refuge (altitude: ~3,200 m). The trail passes the Sidi Chamharouch Shrine, a historic spiritual site nestled in the mountains. Stop for a picnic lunch amidst stunning mountain scenery.

• Afternoon:
  Continue hiking through alpine landscapes, rocky paths, and valleys as you approach the refuge. Take short breaks to acclimatize and enjoy the breathtaking views of surrounding peaks and snow-capped mountains in winter.

• Evening:
  Arrive at Toubkal Refuge, your base for the night. Enjoy dinner at the refuge and rest. During summer months, accommodation can also be in tents. Prepare for the early summit climb the next day.

• Hiking Duration: 8–9 hours round trip | Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging

  • Early Morning Ascent:
    Wake up before sunrise for a 5:30 AM breakfast. Begin the climb to the Toubkal Summit (4,167 m). Depending on the season, the ascent takes 3–4 hours. The path is non-technical but includes some steep sections requiring moderate stamina and care.

  • Summit Experience:
    Reach the highest peak in North Africa and enjoy panoramic 360° views over the Atlas Mountains, valleys, and Berber villages below. Spend about 45 minutes at the summit for photos, rest, and to soak in the achievement.

  • Descent to Toubkal Refuge:
    Carefully descend back to the refuge for a short rest. Hydrate and enjoy light snacks before continuing down to Imlil Village.

  • Return to Marrakech:
    After reaching Imlil, meet your driver for a comfortable transfer back to Marrakech. Arrive in the late afternoon at your hotel or riad, concluding your unforgettable 2-day Mount Toubkal trekking adventure.
